Proposal: Phasing Out rSEI from rToken App to Prioritize LSaaS and SubDAO Growth

Abstract

This proposal suggests retiring rSEI from the rToken app while keeping its underlying EVM module within the LSaaS framework. The change aligns with StaFi’s broader strategy of gradually winding down legacy rTokens and concentrating on LSaaS expansion and SubDAO development as the next stage of growth.

Rationale

Operating and maintaining rTokens across multiple networks has proven increasingly challenging, both technically and operationally. With the evolution of the StaFi ecosystem, LSaaS (Liquid Staking as a Service) has become the core engine for scalability, offering modular staking infrastructure for new networks and ecosystem partners.

Discontinuing rSEI will allow StaFi to streamline resource allocation, reduce maintenance overhead, and strengthen its focus on LSaaS-driven partnerships. Importantly, the EVM-compatible foundation of rSEI will remain part of the LSaaS stack, ready for future SubDAO integrations.

Process

The sunsetting of rSEI will follow StaFi’s standard step-down procedure:

  1. Interface Removal
The rSEI section will be taken offline from the rToken app by the end of the deprecation period.

  2. Grace Period for Unstaking
The backend will remain active for a limited time to process outstanding unstake requests. Once this period closes, backend services will also be retired.

  3. Timeline
The deprecation process will commence this week and be fully completed by October 31, 2025.

Risks & Considerations

  • Users who delay action could risk missing the unstake window.
  • Clear communication and early reminders across channels will be crucial to ensure a smooth transition and minimize community concerns.
