In the previous proposal, StaFi conducted a comprehensive analysis of the necessity and benefits of migrating StaFi Chain to Ethereum, taking into account factors such as the evolution of the network security model, ecosystem scalability, and long-term sustainability.
Following the completion of this directional assessment and feasibility evaluation, this proposal focuses specifically on the execution layer of the StaFi Chain migration. Its purpose is to clearly outline the phased execution framework, operational principles, and key conditions governing the migration process.
The following sections describe the step-by-step execution plan for transitioning StaFi Chain into Foundation Mode and completing the associated asset and operational migration.
Phase 1: Transition of the Validator Model to Foundation Mode
- After community discussion, and provided no objections are raised, the Foundation will assume responsibility for operating a minimal set of StaFi Chain nodes, solely for essential network maintenance and historical data preservation.
- Formal notices will be issued to existing validators, clarifying that they will no longer bear consensus or security responsibilities, and instructing inactive or non-essential validators to gradually exit and shut down their nodes in accordance with an established schedule.
Phase 2: User and Asset Migration
- Official announcements will be released to $rFIS holders outlining the procedure for unstaking $rFIS into $FIS, together with the planned deprecation and closure of $rFIS-related functionality.
- Based on the existing contract infrastructure, audited migration tools will be deployed to support the migration of $FIS from StaFi Chain to Ethereum as ERC20 $FIS.
- Comprehensive and verifiable documentation, tutorials, and FAQs will be provided to ensure transparency, informed participation, and operational safety for users throughout the migration process.
Phase 3: Completion of StaFi Chain Transition to Foundation Mode
- After the conclusion of the designated migration window, the FIS migration bridge will be formally closed, with relevant timelines communicated to the community in advance.
- Following the bridge shutdown, the snapshot block height and claim periods will be announced to ensure that all eligible asset rights can be verified and asserted.
- Centralized exchanges (CEXs) will be formally notified and coordinated with to complete integration of ERC20 FIS, while progressively decommissioning support for StaFi Chain–based FIS.
- StaFi Chain will no longer perform any consensus, security, or value-bearing functions, and will exist solely as a historical ledger before being taken offline after a reasonable transition period.
- An official announcement will be published to confirm the completion of the migration process and the operational transition of StaFi Chain, serving as the final governance and execution-level confirmation.
Note: This proposal does not specify fixed execution timelines. The initiation and completion of each phase will depend on technical readiness, ecosystem coordination, and community execution feedback, and will be communicated through subsequent official announcements.
Risk Disclosure & User Notice
- Asset migration and cross-chain operations involve smart contract and infrastructure risks which cannot be fully eliminated even after audits.
- Users are responsible for completing required actions within the migration window specified in official announcements; failure to do so may increase operational complexity or uncertainty.
- Support timelines from third-party integrators, including but not limited to centralized exchanges, may vary and are subject to their respective final announcements.
Community Discussion & Feedback
StaFi encourages all community members, validators, and ecosystem participants to actively engage in discussion and provide feedback on the execution steps outlined in this proposal. All feedback will be taken into consideration during subsequent governance evaluation and execution preparation, and will serve as an important reference for the refinement and final execution of this proposal.
